The Pousada

This Pousada was built in the ancient Palace of Estoi (XIX century) formerly owned by the viscount of Estoi – José Francisco da Silva. The construction of the Palace lasted about 20 years and was finished with a wonderful party on the 2nd of May 1909 – in the gardens of the Palace. After the Viscount’s death, the Palace was kept by his family until 1987, when it was bought by the Faro City Council. Today the Palace is being converted in the future Pousada of Estoi.

Composed by the main building with the ancient tea pavilions and beautiful gardens in “Versailles style”, this amazing building is located in the small village of Estoi, 10 km from the capital of the district of Algarve – Faro.

The complex of about 4 ha, close to the Ruins of Milreu, includes an ancient stable and dairy, which are being converted in a very particular House for events. The whole complex of architectural value, dissembles in one of the most fantastic landscapes of the world.

Gastronomy

The Algarve’s cuisine is famed for its variety of locally-caught fish and seafood. The shellfish in particular are an absolute must.

Algarvean sweets are true works of art. Made with eggs and locally-grown almonds, figs and carob, they are absolutely irresistible. Try the Dom Rodrigos, morgados, marzipan shapes, fig cheese and many others.
