The property, a former estate of the
Morgado of Vilamoura (a local noblemen), has remained untouched by the
modern world and dates back to the early 16th century. Legend merges
with history and it is said that it was here where Portugal's great
epic poet, Luis de Camões, was inspired with the theme to write
the national epic, Os Lusíadas. For it was in this house that
his muse, the beautiful Dona Francisca de Aragão was born. |
